How Many Units in a Lance? 
A quick guide to "how many units" are in which grouping. Note that while Vehicles and Infantry form platoons, Mechs form Lances. Vehicle groupings can vary, depending on what vehicles are being considered.
Lance - 4 Mechs
Company - 3 lances, or 12 Mechs
Battalion - 3 companies, or 36 mechs
Reinforced Battalion - 4 companies, or 48 Mechs
Regiment - 3 Battalions, or 108 Mechs
***** Vehicles *****
Platoon - 4 to 6 vehicles
Company - 2 to 3 platoons, or 10 to 15 vehicles
Squadron - 2 to 3 companies, or 30 to 45 vehicles
Regiment - 2 to 3 squadrons, or 80 to 120 vehicles
***** Infantry *****
Squad - 1 Infantry unit
Platoon - 4 squads
Company - 4 platoons, 16 units
Battalion - 4 companies, 64 units
Regiment - 4 battalions, 256 units
Brigade - 2 regiments, 512 units
Division - 4 to 5 brigades, 2048 units
Point - 1 Mech or 1 squad of Infantry
Star - 5 Mechs
Binary - 2 stars, or 10 Mechs
Trinary - 3 stars - roughly equal to an Inner Sphere company, or 15 Mechs
Cluster - roughly equal to an Inner Sphere battalion, or 45 mechs
Galaxy - similar to an Inner Sphere regiment, 90 or more Mechs
